Gaga’s Shortbread
Shortbread was on the agenda today. I don’t know why I say agenda because I’ve been anything but organized for Christmas this year. Moreover, I believe I’m trying to avoid it.
Gaga was what we called her, which was Welsh for grandmother. Born in Scotland to a Welsh father and Scottish mother. Oldest of 8, or maybe it was 9, children. She was as big as a minute when I knew her.
Her shortbread was the best in the world. She also made what she called spice buns… a precursor to muffins, but so much better. And a soda bread like no other! Her recipes were secret, causing no end of frustration for my mother.
She was the only spiritual person, with a good dose of superstition, in my early life. We would have long talks over tea. I can hear her now with her deep laugh telling me her recipes.
I would never call a person back, but if you feel them with you, they have come on their own growth to be with you. There are in fact, a group of grandmothers, very high Beings of Light. You can call on them to nurture you, to help if ever you feel alone. Just ask and they will be with you – pure love.
I’m making shortbread, spice buns, and soda bread. Very old family recipes.
Please find time to be in touch with spirits of your family.
Love,
Jane

I don’t suppose you’d share her recipe? The smell, the texture, the flavour… all bring back times/memories, feelings of/with loved ones… yum!
I’ll send it to you personally Walter. Love, Jane
